The crypt remained with no decoration and the sepulchre was digged fifty years later to receive the corpse of the Founder. Thirteen years after his death (ten years was the minimum time according to the legislation in force), on October 21st, 1925, the corpse of Mons. Pio was moved to the crypt, fulfilling in this way the wish expressed by the Founder in his will.

Amalia Duprè, daughter of the great sculptor Giovanni Duprè, and sculptor herself,
made this tondo depicting Mons. Pio,
who was a personal friend of her of of her father;
a copy of this work was also made by Amalia fo a chapel of S. Miniato cathedral

The crypt underwent some changes through the years.

were one next to the other

The last works took place in 1999, for the recognition and replacing of the corpse of God's servant
